Things I Have Discovered in the Past Two Weeks

  1. If tempted to approach a speaker at a conference after their presentation, don’t. They won’t be interested in what you have to say, and you’ll feel like an idiot.

  2. In developing for the web, always assume that an event will happen often, even if you believe it’ll only happen rarely. This is especially true for systems that automatically email publishers in the event of the CMS discovering a broken link.

  3. I’m older than even I think: two puffs of an irregular cigarette at a party and it’s instant bedtime for Andrew.

  4. Blog comment spammers seem to lowercase the URL of the page they’re spamming. This has the nice side-effect of hiding most comment spams from patrons of this site, because all my category URLs officially have at least one capital letter in them.

  5. Crikey.
